Match Report

Forest Green 2-2 Wealdstone

September 15th 2024
Rhys Anderson

Forest Green Rovers drew 2-2 with Wealdstone FC at The New Lawn on Saturday afternoon.

Rovers opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game through Christian Doidge whose header beat Archie Matthews in the bottom left corner.

Rovers doubled their lead four minutes later as Adam May curled an effort into the top left corner from 25 yards out.

There was a seven-minute delay in the first half due to a serious injury to the Wealdstone goalkeeper, Matthews. His replacement, Jacob Adams performed excellently in the second half.

Wealdstone pulled one back just before the break after a free-kick dropped inside the Rovers penalty area before being tapped home by Callum McFarlane.

Wealdstone completed their comeback in the 89th minute as the originally blocked opportunity bounced back into the box and after a scramble was poked home to give the 21st-placed side, coming into the game, a point.
